A customer: "This is a short, simple overview of the PA profession that is worth the used book price. It reads more like a long magazine article than a book, for some reason. Anyone needing a nice quick introduction to the job will be satisfied with this book, although it's out of date. The many people interviewed seem to all be from Chicago, which is unusual, and also most got their education several years ago when there were literally dozens of different ways to become a PA. Modern day applicants will find many of the loosey-goosey programs of the past are now traditional masters programs just like any other. The old "I worked with a doctor for a few years and they let me sit for the boards" type of story is history, nothing more. Most of the content is just published questionnaires and personal short essays from respondents, without commentary or context by the author who seems to have no real personal knowledge of the profession. He might as well have been writing about the history of the bicycle or how air conditioning has changed our lives. But if you are just starting out and need a quick look at the job, this isn't a bad place to start."
